Police in Kumba were thrown into confusion in the early hours of December 2, as they ransacked the metropolis in search of a man who had surfaced with a placard carrying inscriptions synonymous to those of the secessionist Southern Cameroon National Council, SCNC.

The unidentified man who appeared in tattered attire looking seemingly mad was spotted at the BICEC Junction, brandishing a placard on which read: “Welcome to Southern Cameroons,” and other inscriptions.

The supposed activist reportedly disappeared from the busy junction and resurfaced in Fiango with the same placard. But when police reportedly launched a man hunt for him, his whereabouts could not be traced.

The Post learnt that the same man had reportedly fallen into police dragnet once for projecting the same placard, but was released because of his mental health.
