Meme Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, David Koulbout Amand, has waged a legal battle against the President of the youth wing of the Meme IA Section of the Cameroon Peoples’ Democratic Movement , CPDM , John Kingue and other personalities in Kumba, for a petition written against him to hierarchy.

The SDO has denied any wrong-doing, describing the petition as an attack on his career and person.

Speaking to reporters, political party leaders, administrators and security officials in his office on February 19, the SDO disclosed that he was a bearer of a petition forwarded to his cabinet from Yaounde reportedly written by Kingue and others against him.

The Meme boss disclosed the content of the petition as bordering on issues related to his administration of the Division, the functioning of Councils in the hands of Mayors who came to power on the tickets of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, and his private businesses.

Koulbout explained that the authors of the petition claim that he has spent time in the division doing private businesses and aiding SDF Mayors to buy expensive cars, colluding with the Secretary General of the Kumba City Council to increase session benefits for his collaborators.

Reacting to the situation in the presence of a Bailiff, Etienne Zemenjoh, and his Counsel, Philip Awutah Atubah, the SDO said a direct summons will be the fastest way to enforce the legal battle against Kingue and all those who cooked the petition to tarnish his name.

According to the SDO, he was posted to Meme in the interest of all Cameroonians and not particular individuals. He explained that he cannot be blamed when Mayors buy cars because they were duly elected by the population and, more importantly, because all such actions are backed by a deliberation from the local Councils as required by the law.

On accusations that he connives with the City Council Scribe, Henry Shey, to increase session allowances for his collaborators, the Meme boss said: “If anybody wants the head of the Secretary General of the City Council, they should not use my name as an excuse. If officials of the City Council cannot not pay their salaries, it means they have failed,” Koulbout stated.

He however admitted to selling cars, but explained that he has relatives abroad who send him such automobiles to sell. The SDO maintained that, besides being an administrator, he has the right to also engage in private ventures.

He averred that, when people have failed politically, coupled with age, they should go and develop farms rather than move around looking for trouble.

Origin Of Petition The petition is said to be the outcome of a recent CPDM section conference organised by John Kingue and the Government Delegate to the Kumba City Council, Victor Ngoh Nkelle, who served as conference Chairman.

The authors of the petition are said to have hired the services of Jean Felix Mbia, one-time Private Secretary to the former YCPDM National President, John Akpwo Mukete. But Mbia was introduced at the conference as an official from the Central Committee of the CDPM and pioneer YCPDM National Bureau Scribe.

Mbia, a native of Zoetele around Sangmalima, is reputed to be a specialist in petition writing and fabrication of documents. Section President Suspects Foul Play Meanwhile, the Meme I A Section President, Ekale Mukete, told the SDO that he too only got a last minute invitation to the meeting.

Ekale said even the Member of Parliament, MP, for Meme West constituency, Hon Martin Atinda, who attended the conference briefly, breezed into it in the early hours of the last day of the meeting on instructions from CDC Board Chair to verify if it was safe to attend the conclave.

Kingue Yet To Get Party Card John Kingue, who remains the visible hand at the moment in the petition saga, is reported to be at a fix as to whether he should buy a new party card. His situation is said to be compounded by his age which may block him from standing for elections in the youth wing of the party.

Kingue had told reporters at the end of the conference that the SDO was a CPDM militant. In the meantime, the SDO has asked security officials to fish out every hidden hand behind the petition to face the arm of the law.

At the moment, there is general panic in Kumba as no one knows the extent to which the SDO is willing to take the matter to.
