Four people died on the spot while 11 others sustained severe injuries when a transport bus popularly known as cargo is said to have crashed into a river at the Cite des Palmier neighbourhood in Douala.

The deadly car accident occurred on Wednesday, 29th October 2014 at 7:30 pm.

In a seperate incident at the Nkoabang Neighborhood in Yaounde three children were burnt to ashes at about 9:15 a.m. Neighbours who witnessed the terrible scene affirm that after 9 a.m., they suddenly heard the cry of children in a house which was already ablaze.

Before they came to their rescue, the three children aged two months, two years and four years had already been burnt to death.

The 19 years old, Aissatou mother of the deceased kids, had rushed to the market when the terrible scene occurred. She returned home only to find her children in ashes.

Neighbours say that she has the habit of always locking up the children in the house before going to the market.

The rescue team that had rushed to remedy the situation, found a gallon of fuel-kerosene besides a cooking stove.

From all indications these children in their mother’s absence had attempted to warm food but unfortunately did not know how to go about it and rather set the house ablaze.

Forces of law and order are carrying out further investigations about the incident.
