The Director in charge of Revenue Follow Up and Production of Statistics at the Cameroon Customs, Tanjoh Jerry Naah, has been honoured by the Director General of Customs for remarkable services rendered during the 2014 revenue collection season.
This Super Scale Senior Customs Inspector was awarded the prize for Managerial and Operational Innovation in the Monitoring of the Revenue Production System of all Customs Sector and Units last January 26 during the official celebration of the 73rd edition of the International Customs Day chaired at the Military Air Base 101 in Yaoundé by Finance Minister, Alamine Ousmane Mey in the presence of the Director General of Cameron Customs, Mrs Libom Li Likeng Minette.
Super Scale Senior Customs Inspector, Tanjoh Jerry with his award speaking to the SUN explained that, “this prize is as a result of revenue mobilization in 2014.
I merited it because I have been in charge of a special mission squad in Douala and the rest of the country since October last year and it is a mission that I have often done at the end of each year.
The goal of this mission is to improve on the understanding of Customs reforms and mobilize revenue in order to attain the objectives of revenue targets assigned to Cameroon Customs.
I am deeply humbled by this award which makes the entire Customs Administration proud and gives us strength and impetus to deliver more laudable results.”
The Director interpreted the prize as being another way of appreciating his efforts by his hierarchy especially after Customs went beyond their target of CFA 638 billion and collected CFA 700.8 billion in 2014 despite the insecurity threats in the Far North and East regions that led to the closure of some Customs posts.
Considering the prize as a new challenge, Mr Tanjoh Jerry Naah promised to work harder together with the entire Customs chain in order for better results this year under the coordination of the Director General of Customs, Minette Libom Li Likeng.
While expressing gratitude to the Director General of Customs, he reassured that they will still go beyond the 2015 target of CFA 693 billion despite fuel price fluctuation in the international market and the insecurity situation in the Far North Region of Cameroon.
