A woman pretending to be a family member stole as they went shopping.

Inhabitants of Manjo in Moungo Division of the Littoral Region are still in shock after a supposed family member stole three-month-old Emmanuel Junior. As the story goes, the baby’s mother, Emilienne, received a woman pretending to be the husband’s relative on Wednesday, March 15, 2015, after he left for work.

They discussed for over two hours and the woman asked Emilienne to accompany her to the market. While in the market, she gave Emilienne FCFA 5,000 to buy food to be prepared for the day.

After buying rice and other items, the fake relation gave Emilienne money to buy spices at the other end of the market, saying she wanted to return home with the baby because the sun was hot and she was also tired.

Since Emilienne already considered her as a family member, she did not suspect anything. After shopping, she went home only to discover that the woman and her son were nowhere to be found.

She quickly alerted neighbours and the nearest police station of the disappearance of her son. As investigations have been opened, the wish of little Emmanuel’s mother is for her son to be recovered as soon as possible just like another three-month-old was recovered last year in Doula and handed back to the mother.
