The charitable association of the First Lady over the weekend in Tombel Sub-Division donated gifts that will help improve the living conditions of the population.
"Recently, the Circle of Friends of Cameroon, (CERAC) on behalf of its Founding President, Mrs Chantal Biya, First Lady, UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Social Inclusion, officially handed over the Government Primary School of Tombel, renovated and equipped by CERAC."
This was the message unveiled as the General Coordinator of CERAC, Mrs Linda Yang, Personal Representative of the First Lady of Cameroon, Founding President of CERAC, cut the symbolic ribbon and rolled down the commemorative plaque during a ceremony at the Tombel Government Primary School (G.S) to officially hand over the renovated and equipped primary school as well as to donate farm tools to rural women and equipment to health institutions of Kupe Muanenguba Division, in the South West Region.
In the presence of dignitaries and elite of the division such as the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Ngole Philip Ngwese, the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Finance, Paul Elung, the Governor of the South West Region, Okalia Bilai and a host of traditional rulers and CERAC members, Mrs Linda Yang went round the school in which CERAC, amongst other things effectively built three new classrooms, renovated four classrooms, built a new roof, changed wooden doors to metal doors, put window protectors, sealed the classroom ceilings and electrified the building.
CERAC also handed over 20 basic needs to G.S Tombel such as computers, printers, benches, school bags, dictionaries and other didactic materials. On behalf of the pupils, Rodrigue Esso, thanked the First Lady and her association for such gifts which will help improve their final school results. While promising to work harder, Rodrigue Esso told Mrs Linda Yang to tell Mama Chantal Biya they were happy and proud of all the things she does nation-wide.
Earlier on Linda Yang on behalf of the First Lady handed farm tools and agricultural inputs such as wheel barrows, cassava grinding machines, cutlasses, hoes, fertilizers, oil press machines, rain boots to over twenty associations of rural women in the division.
The health domain of the division also benefitted from CERAC's largesse. Medical equipments such as delivery and examination beds, minor surgery kits, stretchers, packets of cotton, boxes of surgery threads, aspirator tubes, generator, drip stands, disposable gloves were also handed to the sector.
The Personal Representative of the First Lady highlighted the commitment of Mrs Biya in education as an important role in the development of a child. While hoping that the renovated school will achieve the goal of the First Lady, Linda Yang also wished that the other gifts will improve the health and living conditions of the population.
