Two perish on the Yaoundé-Douala highway

A ghastly car accident has taken the lives of two people on the Yaounde-Douala Highway on Sunday June 21, 2015.

The accident occurred in the morning at Edea near Mapubi in the Ngwei-Sub-Division of the Sanaga-maritime Region.

The accident occurred as a result of collision between a Toyota Avensis with the registered number CE 939 DP with an over-loaded heavy duty vehicle registered: LT SR 546 AJ.

According to the National Gendarmerie road-safety team, the Toyota Avensis which was heading from Yaoundé to Douala accidentally bumped into a heavy duty vehicle leading to the death of two persons and two others seriously injured.

The accident led to a traffic as passengers of on-coming vehicles stepped out to witness the extent of the damage.

The four victims were taken to the Edea Regional hospital for medical attention and the mortuary respectively for identification.
