The Rector of the University of Douala has instructed the SG and Director of Infrastructure to ensure quality training and modern management while installing them September 25.

“Since the fundamental principle of the University is to ensure quality training, I challenge you to project the university to the top Cameroonian university, institute modern management and improve on infrastructure and equipment maintenance,” the Rector, Pr. François Xavier Etoa challenged the Secretary-General, Dr Jean Paul Komon and the Director of Infrastructure, Pr. Kum François while installing them into their functions.

Before dignitaries, lecturers, support staff and students who filled the Georges Ngango Amphitheatre, the Rector attested that after their brilliant and enriched educational background, he is optimistic they are up to the task.

The university, the Rector said, will not only strive to be recognised as the best in terms of professional training but will as well contribute to the development of the country. To achieve this, he said since the university is in the economic capital, they will use the opportunity to partner with as many companies as possible. The partnership, he continued, will not only end at the level of the forum but will go further to evaluate the number of graduates the partners retain each year.

The SG, who according to the Rector contributed to the drawing up of the Growth and Employment Strategy Paper, was the Technical Adviser N°1 in the Ministry of Higher Education before his appointment. He took over from Pr. Alice Delphine Tang, who has been transferred to the University of Yaounde II in the same capacity.

The Director of Infrastructure took over from Zo’obo France Calvin who also moved to the University of Yaounde II in the same capacity. The Rector thanked the outgoing SG and Director of Infrastructure for their diligent services and wished them luck in their new environment.
