Residents of the construction site of Memve'ele hydroelectric dam revealed that two years after the laying of the first stone for construction by the head of State, the impact of the activities of the Programme of socio-economic accompaniment of Memve'ele' (PASEM) has not been appreciable.

As a result; there has been some agitations in the field on Thursday, 9th October. Jules Marcellin Ndjaga, in the salle des actes of the municipality, thus gathered PASEM officials and the people to discuss the way forward.

According to Gervais Mengue Essono, Mayor of Ma’an, the non-deployment of the Pasem on the ground since the implementation of the Memve'ele project considerably sowed doubt and even significantly skewed the perception of this program, in particular, and the Memve'ele project in general, both in the District of Campo, where there is an urgency, recognized by all people, to implement, as soon as possible, concrete and tangible actions on the ground.

In reaction to the recriminations, the leaders of PASEM, supported by the direction of the Memve'ele project, gave reasons to people, however on the concrete actions already undertaken, namely: rehabilitation of the Nyabizan drinking water point and the sound equipped health centre, the training of 300 young people in skills useful to the accompaniment of the construction of the dam. They have subsequently reassured everyone that everything will be for the better in the coming months.

Because of the administrative delays, obstacle of importance in procedures for the award of the PASEM market, gradually found effective solutions. To which must be added the recent vote for an autonomous budget which will enable better deployment of PASEM with these target populations.

After a long exchanges on missions of PASEM, Dieudonné Bisso, Director the Memve'ele project' , reassured the community of the continuity of the activities of the Pasem assistance. For him, after a period of lethargy, due to some technical cropping, the program gradually will start.

A situation confirmed by the Coordinator of PASEM, Bahana Sapouma, who argued that more visible actions will be carried out on the ground. Jules Marcellin Ndjaga, reassured people about the continuation of the activities of PASEM, during and after the construction of the dam.
