The contestants vying for the vice presidential sit at STUGA were recently pitted against each other in the vice presidential debate that saw Dione Ngwese Sally of the Saints and Scholars party emerge as winner with a score of 46.6 on a score of 50, followed by Zommi Vanessa of the Progress Alliance party 3 points behind and Ngongang Mouafo Vanessa of the EoC Rebirth party with 40.3 on a scale of 50.
The 3 contestants all females exhibited leadership skills, enthusiasm and confidence while responding to and exchanging their views on the questions posed by the moderator of the debate. The vice presidential candidates respected the norms used in evaluation specifically time, language and charisma.
At the end of the debate, the pro-chancellor, Fr. George Nkeze was greatly moved by the fact that female students were interested in leadership roles and were active participants of the debate and elections. He applauded the candidates and called on all to always act in order and respect candidates.
Faculty, staff and students were reminded to register online to be able to vote for their respective candidates. The debate will culminate with the last presidential debate on Monday November 3, 2014 at the EoC village.
