The Chief of Bova II who is the current president of the Buea Chiefs’ Conference, Chief Esume Nyoki, has said that Wonjoku is a village on its own. He was reacting to a report in a local tabloid which quotes him as saying that the said village is a quarter in the Bova II village.

“Last week I had an anonymous phone call from someone who introduced himself as a Human Rights Activist asking if I was the chief of Bova II, which I accepted”, he said.

The caller according to Chief Nyoki, inquired about Wonjoku and his opinion over the issue of Wonjoku as a separate village.

Chief Nyoki told THE SUN in Limbe after the meeting the new Fako chiefs’ conference had with the Senior divisional Officer, Zang III, that he said it was an administrative procedure and he has no comment on the issue.

He went on to say that after asking him too many questions, he told the caller that if he needs an interview, he should come over for an official interview since he doesn’t know the caller.

“Since we are having a formal interview, I want to say that Wonjoku is a village on its own”, he declared.

As president of Buea Chief’s Conference, he said the stories are simply framed up because of “jealousy’.

Commenting on his road map a as new president of Buea Chiefs’ Conference, Chief Nyoki said he will have to go through the files of the former executive and see how to continue from where they ended.

With the recent demise of one of the chiefs in Buea Subdivision, Chief Nyoki said he is planning a befitting burial for the fallen chief and thereafter he will sit with his executive and draw a road map for the Buea Chiefs Conference.

Chief Nyoki lauded the efforts of the Mayor of Buea, Ekema Patrick Esunge. The new Mayor and his team according to Chief Nyoki are working very hard for the development of the municipality especially the villages.

“The Mayor has asked us to identify the various needs in our villages and forward to him so that the councillors can study them and we have done so; we are expecting that with his usual largesse we shall all benefit.” Chief Nyoki concluded by advising journalists to look for facts to back up their reports.

“You cannot go and get information about Fako from somebody in Manyu, rather come to the people and find out from them; at the moment there is nothing wrong in Buea Sub Division”
