The incident happened in the Mvog-Mbi neighbourhood on June 9, 2016, after a truck drove into another while it was turning on the road.

A truck driver and his conductor were seriously wounded between mid night and 1 am yesterday, June 9, 2016, after their truck drove into another in the Mvog-Mbi area of Yaounde.

The empty truck, coming from the Mvog-Mbi end, drove into the side of a brewery truck transporting empty crates near the MRS filling station adjacent Cami-Toyota as it was turning on the road.

The accident left the driver and conductor in the truck driving in from the Mvog-Mbi end of the road seriously wounded after it also hit a street side electricity pole, momentarily putting off the lights.

Eyewitness accounts suggested that the wounded might even have died, though police said they were rushed to the Yaounde Central Hospital still alive. However, the driver of the brewery truck was not wounded.

As a result of the accident, the current endless gridlocks on the Brasseries-Mvog-Mbi portion of the highway from downtown Yaounde to the Nsimalen, Yaounde International Airport, were aggravated early yesterday morning as people went to work.

The situation only improved after the truck driven by the injured driver was moved from the scene with the assistance of traffic warden.
