Barely nine days to the start of 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), Cameroonians and inhabitants of Yaounde are yet to get into the AFCON Fever.

Most paraphernalia produced for the competition still lie abandoned in markets and other specialised spots.

Flags, caps, bracelets, shawls and jerseys branded in the national colours-green, red, yellow, are still to be bought by the enthusiastic crowds as noticed during similar competitions.

From the look of things, major sales points and markets have not yet experienced they usual high patronage mostly coupled with excitement.

The creative pieces with prices ranging from 300 to 50,000 CFAF have been lined up at sales points, but only few customers stop to buy them.

At the Carrefour Warda in Yaounde for example, roadside vendors complain about the low patronage of fans of the Indomitable Lions. There are however hopes that by next week when the AFCON fever must have increased, the demand will also increase.

Antoine Talla, a vendor, attempts to explain the lukewarm attitude; He thinks fans are still to be convinced that the Indomitable Lions will put up a good show in Equatorial Guinea. A jersey vendor, Michel Kamga is of similar opinion.
