Faith communities have organized themselves in various ways for several months to counter terrorism in the country.

As the Imam Oumarou in Yaoundé, made a prayer to Allah in the Ewondo language, pleas rose from the Hill of Mvolyé during the recent celebration of the assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary by Bishop Jean Mbarga, Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Yaoundé; one of the most recent symbolic actions of Cameroonian religious leaders against insecurity by Boko Haram in the country.

The priest invoked the Virgin Mary to whom Catholic believers pray traditionally for the protection of the country, to obtain "a definitive victory over these forces" against the insurgents that lead us into an "unjust war."

Outside the Christian sphere, Muslims have also publicly "called the most high" to aid Cameroonian stability. These were proposed at as symposium which was held in Yaounde early June during by an association of Muslim and Hausa community, Yakamata associated alongside some Christian leaders.
