Christians have been cautioned against the danger of evaluating servants of God based on worldly standards.
Sounding the warning at the Etoug Ebe Baptist Church, Yaounde on February 10, 2013, the President of the Cameroon Baptist Theological Seminary, Ndu in Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region, Rev. George Mbonko, said God's standards of evaluating pastors were Biblical and very different from man's.
Rev. Mbonko who preached on the topic, "Taking God's Perspective On God's Servant" from I Corinthians 4:1-5, was speaking at the send forth service for the outgoing Pastor of the Yaounde Field Council of Cameroon Baptist Convention, CBC Churches, Rev. Wepngong Samuel Jab. He was replaced by Rev. Dr Nditemeh Charlemagne who took over on February 9, 2013 at a hand-over ceremony at Etoug Ebe, Yaounde.
According to the preacher, God's final evaluation of His children will take place on the last day. He therefore urged Christians to seek God's wisdom to enable them help and pray for their pastors to succeed. Also speaking at the event, the CBC Director of Evangelism and Missions, Rev. Fimba Felix, said the Church was satisfied with Rev. Wepngong's work in Yaounde Field that comprises the Centre, South and East Regions, plus Tonga town in Nde Division of West Region. He expressed joy at the fact that Rev. Wepngong, who is going back to school after a four-year tenure, was being replaced immediately by Rev. Dr Nditemeh Charlemagne.
Responding, Rev. Wepngong thanked God for the opportunity to serve His people as Yaounde Field Pastor. He commended CBC authorities for helping to improve relations with para-church institutions like CABTAL, SIL, CEF and Campus Crusade For Christ. The outgoing pastor urged Christians to be grounded in the Word of God as there were many false teachings and preachers around. Rev. Dr Nditemeh Charlemagne acknowledged the challenges that exist in his new ministerial area, given that Yaounde is Cameroon's political capital and the seat of diplomatic institutions. He therefore requested pastors and Christians to pray consistently for him, adding that all his experience in civil aviation, training of pastors, teaching in the university and handling a local congregation, cannot take him anyway without their cooperation.
Earlier, CBC President, Joe Chebonkeng Kalabubse, thanked Rev. Wepngong Samuel Jab for helping to pull Yaounde Field Christians together. He spoke of the need for a Baptist Centre in Yaounde where all CBC services can be located, and a new vehicle to enable Rev. Dr Nditemeh carry out his work efficiently.
