A protocol agreement was signed by the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC) and the Research Institute for Development (IRD) on Friday March 21, 2014 in Yaounde. The scientific and technical cooperation concern among others domains like health sciences, human sciences and applied sciences to development, management sciences human rights. The Representative of IRD, Bruno Bordage, signed for IRD Cameroon and the Rector of the UCAC, Professor Richard Filakota signed for his institution. Present at the occasion was the French Ambassador to Cameroon, Mrs. Christine Robichon.
The agreement will also see the realisation of joint projects such as research projects, building of research groups, reception of scientific staff and also the possibility of creating mixed units or international mixed laboratories, among others. Another important field concerns the training, expertise, scientific information and library sciences.
The Research Institute for Development is a French research organisation, original and unique on the European development research scene. Its activities of research, training and innovation activities are intended to contribute in the social, economic and cultural development of southern countries. In Cameroon and in Central Africa the research programmes are centred on hydrology, patrimonies, archaeology, health, humid tropical forests, geography and human sciences.
