Christians Urged to Trust God More

Rev. Fomuso Henry of PCC Bastos, Yaounde made the call during Easter church service on Sunday, March 31, 2013.

"What a joyful day, the day of the Lord. Jesus is risen. We are happy and glad." This was the procession song sung by joyful Christians during the church procession at the PCC Bastos Congregation yesterday Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013; The day Christians believe Jesus Christ rose from death. As early as 9:00 a.m. Christians thronged the church premises and gathered in small groups to rehearse ahead of the church service.

In his sermon, the Parish Pastor, Rev. Henry Fomuso said the resurrection reminds us that life would have lost its meaning if Jesus remained in the grave. He said resurrection is the climax of the suffering and death of Christ. Drawing from the book of St. Luke in the Holy Bible, the same Jesus who was hailed on Palm Sunday is the one on whom the same people shouted on Good Friday "Crucify him". This, according to Rev Fomuso, shows that there is no stability in human character.

He said the fact that Jesus was raised from death is what makes Christianity have a meaning. And his resurrection has given new life to all the people who believe. And it is a possibility for even nonbelievers to believe and benefit from all what God has promised to those who believe. He called on Christians to believe in God and to know there is a saviour, Jesus. "Our Lord is risen and is alive, so shall we will also be alive after the physical death," he said. The church service was preceded by sacrament.
