Tonye Bakot made the call Sunday while commemorating All Saints Day at Mvog Ada, Yaounde.
The St. Joseph's Anglophone Parish Mvog-Ada was jammed to capacity during the feast of the solemnity of all Saints celebrated by the Archbishop of Yaounde, His Grace Victor Tonye Bakot whose homily urged Christians to live a sanctified life in order to be declared Saints when they die.
He reiterated the need to strive towards sanctity for Saints are those who have come out of great tribulation and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the lamb. Commemorating the lives of all the holy men and women, the Archbishop said the Catholic Church has an amazing galaxy of canonized and beatified Saints quoting Pope John Paul II as an example of the latter. He challenged Christians to lead an exemplary life for their names to be engraved in the golden book of Saints. He said the Saints in heaven were people of flesh and blood, who had the same weaknesses, human inclinations, human nature and same means of salvation that everyone on earth has.
The pastoral visit of the Archbishop that started on Saturday 03 under the theme: "Working together in the vineyard of God," drawn from the book of Matt.20:7 brought back smiles on the faces of Christians after a long social tension that plagued the church. During the two-day visit, he administered the sacrament of marriage to five couples, baptised 55 Christians and administered the sacrament of confirmation to 86 others. During the Sunday mass, the Parish Priest, André-Marie Nko'o Edjimbi presented some babies to the church and the lord.
In a chat with the Archdiocesan President of Catholic Women Association who doubles as the coordinator of CWA in St. Joseph's Parish Mvog-Ada, Seraphine Tamambang, said the Archbishop granted audiences to both individuals and groups, examined projects level, shared in their difficulties, washed away their differences and above all encouraged Christians in their spiritual journey.
Speaking earlier, the chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council, Philip Tarkang said with the transparency and accountability of the new parish priest, the spiritual activities, functioning of the church, human relations and financial aspects have witnessed a positive trend.
