FCFA 250 million is the target for the construction of an ultra-modern church facility.

It was a special church service at the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church, EBC, Yaounde on April 7, 2013. The service was marked by the launch of a grand fundraising for the construction of the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church Complex in Yaounde. The event was placed under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Philemon Yang. The objective of the fundraising is to raise FCFA 250 million for the construction of an ultramodern church complex.

In his sermon, the Church Pastor, Rev. Dr. Philemon Nfor, said God was calling on church members to give beyond their imagination. He called on the Christians not to have fear, but to take the risk and give by faith for the work of God. God, he promised, will not abandon them. "When you put your faith in God, he takes away selfishness and enables you to live beyond your imagination. When you live in the glory of God, he leads many people to bless you and you will be able to do well," he said.

Contributions collected in cash and cheques during yesterday's service reached over FCFA 35.5 million. Pledges were equally made during the church service. People who could not make it to the service sent their contributions. Christians had the opportunity to cut the special cake for the EBC complex. The event took place in the presence of cabinet ministers, church leaders from other protestant churches and guests.

The complex ultra modern complex will comprise a four storey building with six apartments for pastors, seven offices including one for the Field Pastor, five guest rooms, a reception or conference hall, dressing rooms for choirs and two store rooms for church valuables.

Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church, the oldest church of the Cameroon Baptist Convention in Yaounde, held its first service on a temporary site in Yaounde on September 23, 1973. The first service on its present permanent site at Etoug-Ebe was held in June 1981. Today, with a membership of over 1,000 Christians, the church runs two services every Sunday - a French language service from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and an English language service from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon.
