On Wednesday, during the opening of the Academic year, brotherly love was proposed as a solution to the turmoil in Central Africa.
"Think of brotherhood at the heart of human crises: the contribution of Christian theology" was the theme of new academic year for the Catholic University of Central Africa, which was held Wednesday at the campus of Nkolbisson Yaounde.
The vice Rector, Pr. Joseph Ndi-Okalla expressed the urgent need to place brotherhood at the center of any Christian action. He drew references from the Bible to explain that it is not only parental.
Vice Rector for example made reference to the biblical passage where Jesus lying in a synagogue queried the Messenger from his parents, "who are my brethren?" These are my brothers. "The notion, he said, revolves around solidarity, and compassion. By reducing it to the human tensions, speakers, in turn demonstrated that brotherhood is a weapon against the crisis.
Bishop Jean Mbarga, grand Chancellor of the UCAC based his speech on threats on which the University is also exposed to. He feared that the University becomes an economic opportunity where the dynamics of culture for profit exposes the social divide.
The priest offered the "Ecclesiological" way to make the universities of genuine "Universitas" where all are one for the good of the community. It is therefore advocating the formation of students on Christian ethics that unites the Church and society. Nevertheless, the UCAC remains a University of reference in Africa.
