Christians and non-Christians who attended the special Christmas service at the Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church in Yaounde on Wednesday, December 25, were told to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ by worshipping Him for who He Is. This was echoed by the Senior Pastor of the church, Rev. Dr. Philemon Nfor, as he drew inspiration from the story of the wise men in the book of Matthew, Chapter 2:1-12.

During the church service which was spiced with special Christmas songs and sketches that depicted the Christmas story, Pastor Nfor's message to the congregation, particularly to those who are not regular church members, was that, "whoever you are, celebrate Christmas". He said that whether a pagan or Christian, the congregation should celebrate Christmas because it is a day for everybody.

He emphasised that the congregation should celebrate Christmas by hearing God about Jesus Christ because there are lot of things people say about Him that are not right. He said some people say Jesus is a historic figure, a religious leader and founder of the Christian faith. Pastor Nfor stressed that Jesus Christ is different for no religious leader ever died for his people.

The Reverend noted that what the bible says about Jesus Christ is the truth and if people really want to celebrate Christmas, they should choose to believe what the bible says to be able to know the Jesus whose birth they are celebrating. In the sermon, the pastor said when the wise men came, the star was leading them to the place where Jesus was born and when they started listening to Pharaoh, they lost concentration until the star came back.

As such, he explained that this Christmas is a period where those who have lost concentration in their lives should come back to the Lord and he will lead them to His original plan for them. "Whoever you are, you should celebrate Christmas by worshipping Jesus Christ," Pastor Philemon Nfor noted while reiterating that people should not celebrate the birth of Jesus by worshipping wine, food or tradition.
