May Allah subdue Boko Haram - Buea Imam appeals

Mohamed Aboubakar, Imam of the Buea Central Mosque has enjoined Muslim faithfus to put their trust in Allah, while praying that Allah subdue the weapons of the diabolic sect, Boko Haram.

The homily of the Imam was delivered on Friday, July 17 as the Muslim community in Buea joined Muslims around the world in celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

Imam Alhaji Mohammed Abubrkar condemned in strong terms the recurrent havoc being wrecked by Boko Haram insurgents in the three Northern regions of Cameroon.

According to the Imam, killing, abduction and the burning down of houses perpetrated by this terrorist group, under the guise of fighting to spread Islamic doctrine, is contrary to the teachings of Prophet Mohammed.

“Boko Haram insurgents have strayed from the teaching of Prophet Mohammed and Islam, which preaches love, tolerance, sharing, respect for one another and peaceful coexistence,” the Imam said.

In the face of the attacks from the satanic group, the Imam prayed Allah to grant victory to soldiers at the battle front. He advised parents not to leave their children to stray.

“Chiefs and Imams are called upon to be more vigilant. Every visiting Muslim should get himself identified. Identification is very important in Islam. May Allah guide us,” Imam Abubakar said in his sermon.

He prayed Allah to provide plenty to those who gave to charity during the fast and for Allah to raise “among us people who are just.”

The Ramadan feast which comes 30 days after fasting and prayers, according to the Imam, provided an opportunity for Islamic faithfuls to revisit the teachings and life of the Prophet Mohammed.

“With the recent challenges confronting Islam, one might be tempted to question if what is prevailing now is the same message Prophet Mohammed brought to humanity. That is why I have requested all Moslem faithfuls to go back and study the life of Prophet Mohammed, because we are in a journey, and if we have lost our way, it is better to go back and start all over again,” the Imam asserted. Abubakar decried the fact that the activities of Boko Haram have led to the death of so many people and brought untold suffering to humanity.

“Allah decrees in the Quran that life is so important to the extent that, if you save one soul, you save humanity and if you destroy one soul, you destroy humanity. How can Boko Haram be killing in the name of God? This is contrary to the teaching of Allah and the teaching of Islam. Boko Haram is strange to Islam,” the Imam stated.

The feast of Ramadan at the Buea Central Mosque was witnessed by Governor Okalia Bilai, DO Paul Kouam Wokam, Mayor Patrick Ekema among other.
