Sunday July 13, 2014 will be a memorable day for some 18 Christians and newly elected Executive Committee members of the Christian Women’s Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church, Down Beach congregation.

The vent was their dedication to the lord before the entire congregation of PC Down Beach, aka, Mighty Beach.

The dedication ceremony followed the Sunday Service of the congregation Sheppard by the Reverend Mary Sale.

Her sermon drew inspiration from Genesis 50:15- 21 and Luke 6: 36-42 with her text taken from the book of Romans 14:7-13.

The Pastor spent time telling the Christians of the congregation and guests present that it was not for man to judge a fellow man since God is the ultimate judge.

He adviced the Christians to be of exemplary character so that other will imitate them.

She however maintained that it is not wrong to correct somebody as correction and judgement are not the same things.

According to the Clergy, it is not for nothing that people make up their mind to join a church fellowship but because they admire something in other persons who are members of the fellowship.

The pastor then proceeded in dedicating the newly elected Executive Committee of the Christian Women’s Fellowship.

The newly elected Executive members, headed by Mrs Tambe Ayuk, swore to be of exemplary character worthy of being leaders in Christ Jesus.

Then it was time for the dedication of the 18 new members of the fellowship to join the CWF.

Each of them was introduced and each recited a memory verse from the bible to the appreciation of the entire congregation and guests.

The presented a sketch, sang songs of praise to the lord for what he has done for them and lit candles symbolical of a CWF dedication.

The new members equally vowed by the help of God to follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ.

Speaking to THE SUN at the end of the dedication ceremony, Reverend Mary Sale said “I feel delighted and satisfied because through these dedications the church is growing."

She added that “I expect commitment, devotedness and obedience to the laws of the lord, following the bible with all their hearts and above all I expect love for one another which brings unity amongst the group members.”

Speaking about the importance of the dedication ceremony to the Church, Reverend Mary Sale said it is like making a commitment or a vow in the presence of God and in the presence of God’s own witnesses, asking God to help one obey these vows and follow them strictly.

Meanwhile the newly elected Vice President of the group, Mrs Irene Nji, said she was very elated and thanked God for giving her the chance to serve him.

Quizzed on why the new batch is called the batch of patience, she said it is because the new members have persevered a lot.

“Some of them were supposed to be dedicated in 2011 and some in 2012, others came and join in but due to one thing or the other the dedication was postponed and they never felt discouraged, they were very patient and waited for the right time and today was the right time and it has gone successfully” Mrs Irene Nji told THE SUN.
