Following the celebration of Tabask, Saturday within the Muslim communities, the preparations are well underway. Moreover, 500 faithfuls were currently on a pilgrimage to Mecca for the occasion.

In Yaounde, the market is crowded with sheep from the North. Only, at the moment customers are still rare. "Some clients come to inquire about the different prices. They expect the D-day to buy the beast", says Yaya Adamou, seller.

Here sheep prices oscillate between 70,000 and 100,000 F and traders expect a price inflation in the next few days: between 200,000 and 400,000 F. Tabaski is celebrated with the sacrifice of a sheep, and also with the acquisition of new clothes.

"This time last year, there were many more customers. Since the beginning of the preparations, they come in dribs and drabs, especially as loincloths prices have experienced an increase of 2,000 F due to the closure of the border with Nigeria, because most of the fabrics come from this country," said a trader.

Women accompanied by their children already check out sandals and accessories. "I will not be surprised at the last minute. I would like to be flirtatious this day and see that my house radiates happiness. My husband buys the sheep generally on the eve", explained Nafissa Lamère, mother at home.

As a reminder, the feast of the sheep still called feast of sacrifice and according to the Quran the Eid El Kebir, literally means "great celebration". This is one of the most important celebrations of Islam. It commemorates each year the Act of submission of Prophet Abraham to God.
