Prophet Divine C. Okafor
After self-proclaimed Prophet Divine C. Okafor was detained for allegedly sexually harassing his female followers, The Post learned that his Church, Life Transformers Ministry, deployed thugs to ward off inquisitive reporters.
A reporter from The Sun newspaper, names withheld, said he had to run for his life when he approached Life Transformers Ministry (LTM) in Muea to verify some information.
“I had a bitter experience in the process of investigating the sex scandal when I came across thugs who seemed to have been hired to muscle reporters dubbed enemies of the Church,” said the reporter.
More incidents of other journalists molested by LTM thugs have been reported.
The case of Prophet Divine indulging in illicit sex and extortion of money from his followers has also sparked debates and exchange of bitter words between supporters and sympathizers of LTM and critics on social media platforms.
The critics argue that there can never be smoke without fire, hence Divine Okafor could not have been arrested without supporting evidence given by more than ten girls and a minor who complained against the ‘Major Apostle’.
In a phone interview, the Secretary of the Southwest Commission on Human Rights and Freedoms, Tambe Tiku, said most of the girls who filed complaints against Prophet Divine have given their statements.
Prophet Divine was taken into custody on February 15, 2016, but was later released on bail.
