A Kumba-based journalist and bureau chief of The Post newspaper, Maxcel Fokwen has been ordained as a minister of God. Last Sunday, Fokwen was ordained as ‘Apostle’ of Faith Foundation Assembly International by Apostle Joshua David, after 9 months of intensive ministerial drilling.

During the ordination ceremony, Apostle Fokwen as he is now called, simultaneously received a Certificate of Ordination as an apostle from the Apostolic Council of Faith Foundation Assembly and a Certificate of Commission from the New Day Fellowship of Churches and Ministries International, Texas-USA.

While the Certificate of Ordination was certified in Cameroon, the international certificate was duly signed and confirmed by an international presiding prelate, Arch Bishop Thomas E. Wallace.

Following the induction, Apostle Fokwen as well as other ordained clergymen will focus on missionary activities; targeting world missions, the market place, local churches and a network of churches. They will equally act as ambassadors, general-governors and patriarchs in spiritual affairs as concerns the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The newly ordained journalist told this reporter that he is a Christian leader who is gifted, schooled and commissioned by God. “I have the authority to establish the foundational government of the Church within an assigned sphere of ministry by hearing what the Spirit is saying to the churches and by setting things in order,” Apostle Fokwen added.

Quizzed on what will become of his mainstream journalism profession, the Apostle replied: “I remain a journalist. I will go about my duties with the same commitment and output. Journalism is my passion. Even in the days of old, most of the apostles had some other activities besides their apostolic calls. So I remain a journalist and I have a career too ahead of me.”

At the jam-packed ceremonial ground in Mambanda-Kumba, the visibly satisfied journalist cum Apostle was confident that he was going to deliver his divine task unperturbed.

He said he finds solace in this particular verse (Ephesians 4:11-12) of the bible: “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”

It is worth noting that Apostle Fokwen holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Buea.
