Cameroonian football authorities have moved to condemn the conduct and performance of their national team in their humiliating 4-0 defeat to Croatia on Wednesday, saying it could bring sanctions on players who have found out to be guilty of misconduct.

In a game that they needed to win, the team contrived to turn in an embarrassing showing with midfielder Alexandre Song was sent off for an off-the-ball elbow to the back of striker Mario Mandzukic, while team-mates Benjamin Moukandjo and Benoit Assou-Ekotto clashed heads at the end of the game.

And An official statement on FECAFOOT’s website read: “The recent acts of violence that took place during the match against Croatia do not reflect the values of fair play and respect as promoted by our federation, staff and national team as a group.

As expressed by our coach during his press conference after the match, it is important that our team remains focused for its last game against Brazil.

“The mentioned disgraceful behaviour is being further investigated internally, and will be up for sanction if so judged by the mandated internal bodies,” the statement concluded.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will face hosts Brazil in their final group stage match and will pack out of the tournament after that game.
