Cameroon’s Wilfried Dieudonne Seyi Ntsengue delivered home success on the penultimate day of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) African Olympic Qualification Event as the teenager triumphed in the 75 kilogram middleweight final at the Paposy boxing venue in Yaoundé.

The 18-year-old had already booked his place at Rio 2016 after a semi-final victory yesterday but finished the competition in style when he faced Mauritius’ Merven Clair.

Ntsengue knocked down his opponent in the third round of the contest and continued to dominate the remainder of the bout to earn a unanimous points win.

Morocco’s Said Harnouf earned the third and final quota place available in the division, defeating Congo’s Mpi Anauel Ngamissengue on points in their box-off.

Ntsengue’s team-mate Simplice Fotsala had been awarded gold in the 46 to 49kg light flyweight event earlier in the day after the Cameroonian’s opponent, Namibia's Mathias Tulyoongeleni Hamunyela, pulled out of the final.

Both boxers had already sealed their places at the Olympic Games and will now be joined by South Africa’s Sibusiso Bandla, after he won every round of his contest with Kenya’s Peter Mungal.

Namibia’s Jonas Junius triumphed in the 64kg light welterweight division after Morocco’s Hamza El Barbari withdrew ahead of their meeting in the final.

“I was well prepared for this competition knowing that my opponents would be strong, so I trained hard and added some new combinations to my skills,” Junius said.

“I have enjoyed every moment in Yaoundé and now I’m looking forward to celebrating at home with my family.”

Junius and El Barbari will be joined at Rio 2016 by Cameroon’s Mahaman Smaila.

The home favourite defeated Congo’s Dival Forele Malonga Dzaiamou in the fight-off for the final quota place.

With both finalist having already sealed their places at Rio 2016, there were numerous walkovers in the gold medal bouts at the American Olympic Qualification Event at the Predio Ferial la Rural de Palermo in Buenos Aires.

American under 64kg light welterweight Gary Russell was one of the boxers to benefit.

He was awarded the title after Guatemala’s Carlos Daniel Tobar Romero withdrew from their bout.

The top seed fighter in the division Arthur Biyarslanov of Canada, surprisingly beaten in the semi-finals, won a box-off against Venezuela’s Luis Martin Arcon Diaz via a split decision to advance to Rio 2016.

Russell’s team-mate Charles Conwell won the 75kg middleweight gold medal by beating Mexico’s Misael Uziel Rodriguez Olivas on points.

Ecuador’s Marlo Javier Delgado Suarez received the third and final Olympic berth after Colombia’s Jorge Luis Vivas Palacios was forced to withdraw from their middleweight tie.

Colombia's Yurberjen Herney Martinez Rivas defeated the United States' Nico Hernandez on points in the under 49kg light flyweight final.

Argentina's Leandro Blanc received the final quota place as the Dominican Republic's Victor Daniel Santillan Perez withdrew.
