The media outfit has secured exclusive broadcast rights for all matches played in three regions.

The domestic league season may be heading towards better days as the President of the Professional Football League, General Pierre Semengue, declared that a FCFA 12 million in cash will seal a partnership deal with Canal 2 International.

The independent Douala-based media outfit has secured exclusive broadcast rights of all matches of the tournament played in the regions of the Littoral, South West and West.

The deal which expires after 12 months and may be renewed for another term immediately went into effect after its signing ceremony at the Star Land Hotel, Friday, April 11, 2014.

The arrangement also allows the local TV station to run programmes on the League matches while also running advert spots for a shared proceed. The General Manager of Canal 2 International, Eric Fotso, said he is motivated by his trust in Cameroon football. According to the arrangement, matches will be broadcast every week on the Canal 2 International; at least one of the matches will be broadcast live.

Asked why just three regions, Eric Fotso said, "We want to go step by step. It is logical to start somewhere". For General Pierre Semengue, "If you organise a tournament and it is not watched, it's absolutely not good.

It should be known at the national level and/or internationally. More partners are needed. We consulted several media houses that are yet to take advantage of our offer."
