Samuel Eto‘o was omitted from last night’s FA Cup squad after interest from other clubs, Roberto Martinez has revealed.
The Cameroonian striker was a notable absentee from the Toffees’ 18 man squad in the third round replay defeat at Upton Park last night, and following the match Martinez stated that enquiries from a number of clubs, including Sampdoria, meant that the 33 year old was not included in the match day party.
“A couple of clubs contacted us in the last 12 hours so I decided to leave him out,” said manager Roberto Martinez.
“We will see what is best for him and us over the next few days.”
Eto’o joined Everton in the summer of 2014, and has scored four times in fourteen appearances for the Blues since making his debut against Chelsea in August 2014.
