Everton striker Samuel Eto’o has agreed to join Sampdoria, according to reports in Italy.
The player reportedly met with his entourage in Liverpool on Thursday to discuss the offer before deciding to make the move.
SportMediaset claims that the three-time Champions League winner will sign a one-and-a-half- year deal and take a 35-40 per cent wage cut which will now be made up primarily by bonuses.
The Cameroon international’s family still live in Milan, a factor likely to have had a major bearing on the decision.
According to Il Secolo XIX, Blucerchiati president Massimo Ferrero called the player to persuade him to move to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, saying “Come to Genoa and there will be thirty-thousand people waiting at the airport to meet you!”
The 33-year-old only joined Everton from Chelsea in the summer, but has failed to make a big impact at Goodison Park, scoring just four goals in eighteen appearances in all competitions.
