Cameroon’s skipper Samuel Eto’o will not make it in the Lions’ starting line-up against Brazil in Brasilia on Monday, in their 2014 FIFA World Cup’s farewell encounter.
“He needs another two or three weeks to get back to full fitness, but he might play for a few minutes. If he can start the game? No ways, it would require a miracle overnight,” national coach Volker Finke said about his striker in a press conference.
Eto’o has been sweating over a knee injury for weeks and never managed to leave his mark at the showpiece event, witnessing from the bench Cameroon’s disastrous display against Croatia in their second Group A outing.
Already out of the competition with two back-to-back defeats at the hands of Mexico and Croatia, the Indomitable Lions will be looking to end their Brazilian campaign on a positive note when they face the host nation after hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
