Cameroon’s skipper Samuel Eto’o will be rested against Macedonia on Monday evening, in the Indomitable Lions’ first warm-up friendly ahead of the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.

The Chelsea’s striker is still recovering from a recurrent knee problem and national coach Volker Finke doesn’t want to take any risk.

Also suffering from minor strains, goalkeeper Charles Itandje and midfielders Edgar Salli, Jean II Makoun and Stéphane Mbia will skip this first friendly, as well as injured centre-back Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik.

And Finke could also decide to side-line defender Aurélien Chedjou and striker Vincent Aboubakar, who had to leave the training ground on Sunday after suffering a knock.

The German has, however, explained that he wants to use as many players as possible during their four warm-up games and is set to field Eto’o against Germany in Mönchengladbach on June 1.

The match will kick-off this Monday at the Kufstein Arena, Austria, at 19h00 CAT.
