Eto’o says goodbye to Chelsea fans

Samuel Eto’o has thanked Chelsea fans for their support during his time at the club and called them ‘amazing’, adding that it was a real pleasure to play for the club.

Using his official Instagram account, Eto’o wrote: “Thank you to the Amazing @chelseafc fans for having given me the opportunity to be a blue.

It was a honour to me!!! BLUE is THE color!! And me Samuel Eto’o Ello Ello will forever be a blue!! #CFC #it #was #a #real #pleasure #KTBFFH”

His stay at Stamford Bridge was marred slightly by jibes about his age, originating from something manager Jose Mourinho said off the cuff.

Yet Eto’o will take away some fond memories of his time at the club, having impressed many with his more than decent tally of 12 goals from his solitary season.

Among those goals were a hat-trick against Manchester United and the opening goal in the 6-0 thrashing of Arsenal.
