Cameroon’s German Coach Volke Finke described Gambia as a good enough team to stand up to the challenge of any side despite succumbing to a 1-0 defeat to his Indomitable Lions in Sunday’s Nations Cup qualifiers.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, Finke said the Scorpions proved a difficult test for his star-studded Cameroon, conceding that The Gambian spirit showcased by the team made life hard for his players.

“Prior to the game, we watched the Scorpions play against South Africa in which they played a very good game and today also they demonstrated that here,” he said.

Accoring to him, Gambia is no longer a small team now, as they have very determined and ambitious players who want to achieve something for their country.

He said he has congratulated his players for a job well done as they top Group M with six points, but was quick to add that he is also building a new team with Cameroon after the retirement of one of the greatest strikers to play the sport, Samuel Eto’o.

“We are rebuilding our team since the 2010 World Cup and you can see that we also have a very young team between the ages of 19 and 26.”He added

However, winning that game, he said serves as a big motivation for his young team
