Fiorentina close in on former Chelsea striker

Fiorentina have made contact with Samuel Eto’o’s representative and are willing to offer the former Chelsea striker a one-year deal.

The Cameroon international has been released by Chelsea after just one season at the Stamford Bridge club, where he scored 12 times in all competitions.

Despite interest from China and the USA, Eto’o is believed to prefer a move to a club in Europe, with talkSPORT revealing earlier this month that Roma are interested in signing him.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Roma’s Serie A rivals Fiorentina have already initiated contact with the 33-year-old’s agent and that they have proposed a one-year deal worth £1.6m.

It is expected that he will decline their interest, though, as he is seeking a higher salary and the security of a two-year contract.

Juventus, who can offer Eto’o another crack at Champions League, remain interested in the former Real Madrid and Barcelona man.
