Kamgue grooms Yosa into unbeatable team

Since he took over as head coach of Yong Sport Academy, Kamgue Justin has maintained an increasing geometrical velocity as his side gradually floats away from the drop zone. When he took over, Yosa was only two points above relegation, but have now opened an eight point gap from Tonnerre Kalara Club of Yaoundé, first in the drop zone on 26 points in just 5 playing days.

Yosa spectacular climb to safety started on August 9, when they recorded a one-nil home victory over UMS of Loum in Coach Kamgue’s first outing. This was followed by an away draw in Bafia against the in-form Cosmo FA and subsequently 3 back-to-back victories against Panthere in Bamenda, News Stars in Douala and recently, Tonnerre kalara Club in Bamenda.

Yosa has amassed a staggering 13, out of a possible 15 points since the new coach took over, once more instilling hope in fans and supporters of the Bamenda outfit of elite one soccer next season.

“We are looking forward to elite one soccer next year because am sure we will beat Sable in the next match” a jubilant fan told me in Pidgin English, after Sunday’s laborious victory over struggling Tonnerre.

“We can still pick a continental ticket this year” another supporter who stayed with other fans long after the match to chat about the team's recent successes assured me.

Such is the mode in Bamenda and the northwest as a whole after a very poor start to the season by the lone elite one club in the region following the passing of its founding president last December.

The team’s recent performance has also pushed up attendance at their home ground, at the Bamenda Municipal stadium where weekly attendance had dropped to less than 2 000 spectators before Coach kamgue took over. The team last two home games have had over 8 000 fans in attendance.

Northwest FECAFOOT Scribe, kaba Christopher thinks that the jinx to Yosa’s problem was not winning at home and as soon as they won their first home game the results were destined to follow.

Speaking after the victory over UMS of Loum in August he said “This was a very important match for us. With this victory, it is going to serve as a moral bolster to the team and the population, to the management and every other person. If we had any blockages because we were not winning, we have won today, let us clear out this blockage and go on winning”

Despite all these up beat, some fans are still having their fingers cross as they know that the least slip on the teams part could still attract the heat of relegation.

Known as the Saviour in Bamenda, Kamgue Justin has had previous stints in the region where he produced similar results to guide old timers PWD of Bamenda to the continental scene in 2003.

Before he took over in August, Yosa's record this year had been the poorest since the team ascended into the top tier league in 2009. Yosa before his coming had won only one of their 10 home games since February.

There is no doubt now that hundreds of fans will be in Bafang next weekend to cheer Yosa to victory against a struggling Sable of Batie when they clash for the 29th day of play.
