Lionesses Bow Out With Honour

Thu, 2 Aug 2012 Source: Cameroon Tribune

Having being eliminated from the competition after conceding two successive defeats, the Lionesses had as objective to leave the tournament with honour. And this they did by scoring their first and only goal of the tournament.

They were humbled 1-3 by New Zealand yesterday in their third and last outing in the tournament during which they conceded 11 goals and scoring one. They lost 0-5 to Brazil in the opening encounter of the football tournament at the on-going Olympics in London, beaten 3-0 by host great Britain in their second outing before finally bowing 1-3 to New Zealand to crash out of the competition.

Though the Lionesses lost the competition as they emerged last in Group E with zero points, they won the hearts of the people with their seductive play and good circulation of the ball which revealed that the teams has prospects of the great football side to be. The Olympics would have been a wealth of experience for the players who will be gunning for the continental title in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial by the end of the Year.
