The South African National Under-20 side, Amajita , booked their place in the CAF Youth Championship following a 2-1 win over Cameroon at the Peter Mokaba Stadium to progress 3-2 on aggregate.

Shakes Mashaba's team went 1-0 down early in the match, but held on to win.

Cameroon's Noubissi Marius scored the game's opening goal in the third minute with a low shot that went past Amajita keeper Jethren Barr.

Barr's nervous start to the match nearly resulted in a second goal to Cameroon, but Pierre Kunde's shot went over the bar.

Amajita defended well to keep the Cameroon at bay, with captain Ayabulela Maqwaka leading the defence.

The South African team began attacking more towards the end of the first half, sending men up the pitch in an effort to get a goal.

The equaliser finally came in the 38th minute through Fagrie Lakay, whose solo run ended in a powerful shot into the goal.

Amajita nearly took the lead minutes later, but a poor tactical decision from Ngubo allowed Cameroon to clear the ball.

Cameroon's counter attack nearly saw them take the lead as Tabekou Ouambe's shot hit the crossbar.

Lakay scored again late in the second half to give Amajita a 2-1 lead.

Cameroon tried hard to pull back a goal in the second half, but Amajita's defence held strong.

Amajita missed two opportunities to extend their lead, with Lakay's free kick hit the bar and Pule Maraisane narrowly missed the goal.
