Liverpool, Everton gun for Cameroon Stephane Mbia

As the summer draws near, reports say Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton are to go head-to-head for Queens Park Rangers and Indomitable Lions’ midfielder Stephane Mbia. According to TalkSport, both English clubs will be joined by Italian giants Inter Milan as they all look to snap up the Cameroon international at the end of the season.

There are many questions as to what these clubs see in 27-year-old Mbia especially Liverpool. Sports pundits however are unanimous that barring an epic collapse, Liverpool will win the Premier League so it is beyond comprehension that Mbia, a passable top-flight footballer, would be "in talks" with the Reds.

TalkSport reports that Mbia is open to a move to a Champions League club if possible in the summer, but only if Sevilla turn down the opportunity to sign him on a permanent basis. Mbia has enjoyed his time with Sevilla as they march towards a top four finish having won 12 of their last 15 matches across all competitions.

The midfielder who made his debut for the Cameroon Indomitable Lions in 2005 has been on loan at Spanish side Sevilla this season having been part of the QPR side that found themselves relegated from the Premier League last year.
