Midfielder Stéphane MBia has pledged to show the true face of Cameroon against Croatia in Manaus on Wednesday, in their do-or-die 2014 FIFA World Cup Group A encounter.

The Indomitable Lions have fallen 1-0 at the hands of Mexico in their opening game in Natal following a rather poor display, and have now their backs to the wall in the competition as any other result than a win would seriously compromise their chances of qualifying for the next round.

“They had a good game against Brazil, but I am sure we can get a result against them. I am not worried. Our team can go far and I can assure you that you will not see the same Cameroon,” MBia told L’Equipe.

“We were very disappointed but we went back to work. We did what we had to do to get back on the right track. We thought we could do something against Mexico, but we failed. But you mustn’t compare our situation to that of the 2010 World Cup. Here there is true team spirit,” he assured, confident in their abilities to bounce back, even without injured Samuel Eto’o.

“He is an important player and our captain. He can make the difference in every match, but if he is injured we will need to have a different approach. And even if he plays a very important role, we have faith in the group and we are ready to prove it against Croatia.”
