Rayon Sports will face Cameroon’s Panthère Sportive du Ndé FC in the preliminary round of the Caf Confederation Cup with the first leg played in Bangangté between February 13-15 and the return leg in Kigali a fortnight later.

Blues’ head coach Andy Magloire Mfutila who was part of AS Vita coaching staff when the Congolese side played against Panthère Sportive du Ndé in the 2010 Confederation Cup admitted that, that experience will not be an advantage now. AS Vita won 3-2 on aggregate.

“We play away from home first so we shall make sure we use that to our advantage since they do not know us and we do not know them. It will be open play in Cameroon,” explained Mfutila whose side back then won home and away.

Mfutila has revealed that his main target is to make it to the quarterfinals of the continental showpiece but victory against the Cameroonian side in the preliminary round is very important if his objective is to be met.

The Congolese instructor joined the seven-time league champions last month among his set targets is to guide the Blues to redemption in the region and on the African continent.

Rayon Sports has never made it to the last eight at any continental competition but Mfutila believes that there is a first time for everything. The winner between Rayon Sports and Panthère Sportive du Ndé will face Egyptian giants Zamalek in the first round.

Mfutila who has coached and been a part of the coaching staff at a string of giant clubs in his home country, the Democratic Republic of Congo including TP Mazembe, AS Vita, Saint Eloi Lupopo, CS Don Bosco, Athletic Club Sodigraf and AS Bantou.
