Panthere has got up to a good start in the second phase of the MTN elite one championship which resumed last Sunday, July 7th. The Nzuimanto walloped Yong Sports Academy 4-0 at home in Bangangte to temporarily assume the leadership position on the classification chart. They are one point ahead of the away leg league leaders, Coton Sport who were compelled to a zero-all tie at home by Sable of Batie. Meanwhile Union of Douala beat relegation bound Tiko United to conserve the third position they had occupied at the end of the first phase of the championship with 24 points.

The situation remains unchanged at the bottom of the table where Renaissance, Aigle royal of Menoua and Scorpion of Bé recorded defeats, thereby further sinking down the drain. While clubs like Unisport, Canon and New Stars conserved their comfortable positions in the middle of the classification table.

In a related development, club presidents addressed a message of gratitude to the president of the republic, Paul Biya for approving the award of a subvention of 560 million to first and second division clubs to kick start the professional League ion Cameroon. While hailing the government for opting for dialogue to solve the differences between officials of the Professional League and clubs presidents, they decried the interference of the League officials in the internal management of clubs.

The non-disbursement of the second and third instalments of the subventions amounting to some 360 million has been the bone of contention between the league officials and the association of first and second division club presidents united under the umbrella of the temporary management committee, clamoured for the disbursement of the funds as a pre-condition for the resumption of the championship while the league officials were of the opinion that the championship should resume while awaiting the disbursement of the subventions. It took the mediation of the Prime Minister for the conflict to be resolved and the money was finally disbursed on Tuesday paving the leeway for the resumption of the championship over the weekend.
