Both nations are in top form at the moment, having qualified for the 2015 Afcon tournament undefeated in the qualifiers.

South Africa will lock horns with Cameroon in a friendly match to be played at the Libreville Stadium in Gabon on Saturday, kickoff is at 21h00 (SA Time).

The encounter will serve as a preparatory game for the two nations ahead of the upcoming 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament to be hosted by Equatorial Guinea.

Bafana Bafana are coming off a 1-0 victory over the 2012 Afcon champions Zambia in an Afcon warm-up match that was played at the Orlando Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Coach Shakes Mashaba's side has been boosted by the return of KV Oostende midfielder Andile Jali from injury, and the arrival of England-based Dean Furman, who both missed the encounter against Chipolopolo.

However, Orlando Pirates full-back Patrick Phungwayo is the only injury casualty in the Bafana camp so far, ahead of the clash with the Indomitable of Lions.

Since Mashaba took charge in August, Bafana are undefeated away from home, having won twice against Sudan, and Congo-Brazzaville, before drawing 2-2 with African champions Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Cameroon impressively accumulated 14 points from six matches during the Afcon qualification campaign in Group D. A group that included the likes of Ivory Coast and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The Indomitable Lions were forced to come from behind to hold DRC to a 1-1 stalemate in an Afcon warm-up match played in Yaounde on Wednesday.

German coach Volker Finke has finally announced his final 23-man squad for the 2015 Afcon tournament, and it includes only eight players from those who participated in the World Cup in Brazil.

Following the retirement of accomplished striker Samuel Eto'o and midfielder Alex Song from international football, Seville midfielder Stephane Mbia is the most experienced player in the squad, and he's also the captain.

The Indomitable Lions are in Group D in the 2015 Afcon tournament, and the four-times African champions will face Ivory Coast, Mali and Guinea in the first round of the competition.

In head-to-head stats since 1992, South Africa and Cameroon have met only six times.

Bafana have dominated the Lions having defeated them three times, drawn twice and suffered just one defeat against Cameroon.

South Africa emerged victorious over Cameroon during the most recent meeting between the two nations.

Teko Modise netted a brace as Bafana won 3-2 in November 2008, in a Nelson Mandela Challenge encounter.
