Sibusiso Vilakazi netted the equalizer as South Africa drew 1-1 with Cameroon in an Afcon warm-up match played at the Libreville Stadium in Gabon on Saturday night.

The encounter provided both South Africa and Cameroon a chance to keep the momentum going ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

The Indomitable Lions dominated the proceedings from the beginning, with Bafana Bafana struggling to get out of their own half.

It did not take long before Cameroon took an early lead after being awarded a free-kick on the edge of the South Africa box in the sixth minute.

The set-piece was converted by FC Porto striker Vincent Aboubacar, who blasted the ball into the back of the net, with a sublime strike, which beat goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo in the Bafana goal.

Volker Finke's striking partnership of Aboubacar, and Switzerland-based forward Frank Etoundi was giving the South African defence a lot of problems with their pace and trickery on the ball.

After the half an hour mark, Bafana began to see more of the ball in the Lions' half, as midfield duo Dean Furman, and Andile Jali were now combining well.

Eight minutes before the half-time whistle, the South Africans had a chance to equalize when Kaizer Chiefs forward Bernard Parker fired his effort just wide off the mark.

The half-time score was 1-0 in favour of Cameroon, who had a good start to the friendly game.

Bafana looked much better in the early stages of the second-half, as they were able to combine nicely going forward, forcing the Cameroonians to defend in numbers.

Lions shot-stopper Joseph Ondoua was finally tested in the 56th minute, when the FC Barcelona reserve team goal-minder was forced to parry Jali's shot from 20-yards out away for a throw in.

Six minutes after the hour-mark, South Africa were awarded a promising free-kick on the edge of the Cameroon box, but the set-piece was kicked just over the cross-bar by Sibusiso Vilakazi. Bafana had upped the tempo.

Ten minutes later, Bidvest Wits forward Vilakazi found the back of the net, after bursting into the Cameroon box, beating one defender and then he struck the ball home, to make it 1-1.

Coach Shakes Mashaba's men nearly took the lead in the 82nd minute, after SuperSport United's pacey winger Thuso Phala out-ran France-based defender Henri Bedimo on the left into the box, but Vilakazi narrowly missed the cross.

In the end, the two teams were unable to force through a winning goal, and it finished 1-1.
