The Cameroonian scored 18 goals in six African Cup Nations tournaments, making him top scorer, since the inception of the competition in 1957.

The 33-year-old striker scored four (4) goals in his maiden appearance in the tournament in 2000, before he scored one goal each in 2002 and 2004.

Eto’o continued his goal scoring form in the 2006 AFCON by netting 5 goals and scored the same number of goals in 2008, which enabled him to surpass Laurent Pokou’s 14 goals, as the all-time top scorer in the continental showpiece and again added two goals to increase his tally to 18 goals in the 2010 AFCON staged in Angola.

Eto’o who plays for Everton in the English Premier League, after a successful club football with Barcelona, Inter Milan, Anzhi Makhachkala and Chelsea is also the all-time top scorer for Cameroon with 56 goals, but retired from international football in 2014.

As it stands now, Laurent Pokou, the Ivorian is second on the list with 14 goals and Rashidi Yekini third on the list with 13 goals for Nigeria.
