Cosmos de Bafia coach Thomas Libiih claimed they were unlucky to lose to Uganda’s KCC in the Caf Champions League first leg on Saturday and declared they will overturn the 1-0 result in Cameroon in a fortnight.

Herman Wasswa’s 84th minute goal means the hosts go to Yaoundé needing a draw, victory or even a 2-1 defeat to progress to the next round.

The Cameroonians had made their case until then, and should even have gone into the break 2-0 up but thanks to brilliant goalkeeping from Yasin Mugabi, who twice stopped Ntjaka Guy Marcel in one-on-one situations, this was not to be.

They also had to play the last 30 minutes with 10 men following Nai Patrick’s second yellow card after an adjudged dive in the penalty box.

But Cosmos de Bafia coach Libiih drew positives from their display and is certain they will do enough to beat KCC in a fortnight and progress.

“We were unlucky with the red card and in the first half,” Libiih told supersport.com, adding, “We created many chances, especially in the first half, but we couldn’t put them away.

“We then lost concentration and conceded that late goal. But the fact that we managed to hold the opponents for 80 minutes when we were 10 men is encouraging.

“I’m sure it will be a different ball game in Cameroon. We shall get the necessary result and progress.”

Cosmo need a two-goal margin victory to automatically progress.
