Cameroon coach Volker Finke insists that his side is suffering following their exit from the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

The Indomitable Lions endured a terrible World Cup campaign that saw them concede nine goals in three matches, twice conceding four goals in their losses to Croatia (4-0) and Brazil (4-1).

Speaking after his side’s final game against Brazil in Group A, Finke admits that Cameroon have been struggling for form over the last two or three years and that no one should be surprised that they did not qualify for the knockout stages of the World Cup.

“Over the last two or three years, we have not been that good but we managed to qualify for the World Cup and now we are disappointed we have not won a match,’ said Finke.

“It's terrible and we are suffering this, but we have gained experience and what we need to do is focus and concentrate for the next challenge.”

In conclusion, Finke surrendered the fact that his side was simply not good enough to compete on the global stage and will have to improve if they hope to do better in future competitions.

“There were certain things that were quite positive but it wasn't enough for the World Cup. We need to look at reality and as we are, it's not enough for this competition,” added the Cameroon coach.
