A recent Press Conference organised by the Head Coach of the Indomitable Lions in Yaounde, Volker Finke has led to the introduction of a new bonus match system for the players.

The new bonus system has been introduced to the national team with the suppression of participation fees.

According to the head coach, participation fees have been cancelled to avoid injustice and bring serenity and team spirit among the players.

In the side lines of this new bonus system, players that have been called up six times in the national team to the qualifier matches would get FCFA 30million each.

In case of a match won, each player would receive FCFA 5 million for each of the group stage games and the fee would increase to about FCFA 25million if they grab the trophy.

The coach when faced by the press explained that the introduction of the bonus strategy came after a series of strikes staged by the players concerning match bonuses an example of which was the refusal to travel in time to Brazil for the World Cup for unpaid bonuses.

Government had provided FCFA 50 million while the players insisted on getting the quota of the of Cameroon Football Federation CAF.

It is worth noting that the innovation in the payment of players came after a presidential decree restructuring the national team after the 2014 World Cup debacle providing that the fees will agreed six months to the competition.

The Captain Stephane Mbia is expected in the country this Wednesday 7th though he would be operational only after 15 days following an injury in club.

As fans look forward to the performance of the Lions in the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea come January 17,the technical staff has organised warm up matches for the players, one of which will see Cameroon play Democratic Republic of Congo this Wednesday afternoon at the Ominisports Stadium in Yaounde.
