Cameroon midfielder Eyong Enoh has warned that they must put their successful AFCON qualifying campaign behind them as they prepare for the continental showpiece.

The Indomitable Lions finished top of their Group D of the qualifiers on 14 points without suffering a single defeat.

However, the 28-year old believes that a complete new race is about to begin in Equatorial Guinea.

“Everything that happened during the qualifiers belongs to the past,” the Standard Liège player told Camfoot.com.

“It is a new year, we start from scratch. A big challenge lies ahead of us, we need to work very hard. We will do our best to kick off this very tough competition on the right foot.

“We are going to take one game at a time. But our opening match against Mali will be the most important. If we start well, we will build up confidence and the other games will follow.”

Cameroon will face DR Congo in Yaoundé in a warm-up friendly this Wednesday, before heading to Libreville, Gabon, where they will carry on with their preparations before kicking off their continental campaign against Mali in Malabo on January 20.
